SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE
Q. What do students do at SACC?
A. When weather permits, PM SACC students go outside and play. Inside there are many games, toys and arts & crafts projects available. Sometimes students watch movies (only G rated!) A snack and juice is provided every afternoon. Homework time is also provided to students.
Q. Does my child have to attend every day and every month?
A. No. You can sign up your child for whatever days you need. Some children attend every day, some one or two days a week, some only occasionally. Whatever you need.
Q. Can I have my child attend at the last minute if I have an emergency?
A. Yes. As long as you have registered your child with SACC, you can call the SACC office and have your child attend.
Q. How do I pay?
A. Tuition payments are due monthly in advance. If you add your child in an emergency situation, we ask that you pay as you add on.
Q. Do I get credit for days my child doesn't attend?
A. There is no credit for days missed unless a child is out sick for three days or more.
Q. Why do I have to call the SACC Program when my child is not in school and is scheduled for SACC?
A. There is only a certain amount of time at dismissal for SACC personnel to look for a child who has not arrived at the SACC site. By the time the office is contacted and then the teacher, the child could already be on the bus headed home to an empty house. If there are several students not accounted for, this can take some time. If we know in advance that your child is absent or was picked up early, then things run much more smoothly and we don't have to worry about where a child is.
Q. Why can't I have my child take the bus home instead of going to SACC?
A. Bus drivers, as well as teachers, principals, main office secretaries, nurses and SACC aides get a printout each week with all SACC students listed. We have learned from experience that if everyone follows the schedules there is no question where a child should be. Of course there are always genuine emergencies and we try to be flexible for our parents.
Q. Why do I have to pay a late fee if I pick up my child after 6:00 pm?
A. Closing time is 6:00 pm sharp. We must pay our aides extra time if they stay past 6:00 pm. Also, our SACC facilitators and aides want to get home to their own familes.
Q. Why does everyone have to be buzzed into the building and show ID when picking up children from SACC?
A. Certain measures are required by Homeland Security. As you know, our school district is very safety conscious. The SACC program has always required ID from anyone they do not know. Only those people designated by a child's parents will be allowed to take a child from the SACC Program.
Q. Why are schedules due by the 15th of the month for the following month?
A. We know this seems like a great amount of time. Please understand our reasons for this policy. All schedules and payments are first logged in and checked for math. Your check or cash is then processed for payment, copied and deposited to the bank. If there are any questions or errors on the payment or something that does not look right on the schedule, we check with parents for clarity.
All schedules are then put into the computer for the month. Weekly schedules are printed out on Wednesday mornings for the following week. Later that day, the printout are checked by the secretary against a copy of the schedule you turned in and then check again by Jennifer Boulden.
On Thursday mornings, schedules are run off for all front offices, teachers, SACC personnel and bus drivers and sent to them in the inter-offfice mail run. Schedules are check again by the facilitators for accuracy. Multiply this by approximately 120 and you can see how time consuming this is. If your schedule arrives late and your child needs to be hand written in at the last minute, there is always the possibility of error.
